Stone and Facings
Manufactured stone, natural stone and mantels for fireplaces in Hayward, WI. Boulder Creek, Buechel Stone and Boral cultured stone.
The part everybody actually looks at
The firebox does the work, but the stone is what the room sees. We carry manufactured and natural stone along with mantels and hearths, so the whole face gets handled by one shop instead of three.
Bring a photo of the room and, if you have one, a piece of your flooring or trim. Matching in person beats matching from a screen every time.
- Manufactured stone in ledgestone, fieldstone and river rock
- Natural cut stone and full veneer
- Wood and stone mantels, and hearth stones cut to size
- Samples you can carry home and hold up to the wall
- Installed by the same crew that sets the firebox
Natural stone or manufactured?
Both look right when they are chosen well. The decision usually comes down to weight, budget and how the wall is built.
Manufactured stone
Cast from real stone and colored all the way through, it weighs a fraction of the real thing, which means less structural support and a faster install. The range of shapes and colors is wider, and it is the more common choice for an interior chimney breast.
Natural stone
Quarried and cut, with the depth and variation that only real rock has. Heavier, so the wall behind it has to be able to carry it, and slower to lay. On a big feature wall or an outdoor fireplace it is worth the extra.
Take samples home
This is the one decision you should not make on a screen. Stone changes completely under different light. Borrow samples, put them against your floor and your trim, and look at them in the evening.

The showroom on Highway 63 has units running through the heating season. It is a lot easier to pick a stove when you can stand next to it.
