Gas and Wood Fireplace Inserts

Gas, wood and pellet inserts in Hayward, WI. Turn an open masonry fireplace that loses heat into one that actually warms the house.

Inserts

Fix the fireplace you already have

An open masonry fireplace is lovely and it is also, on most nights, a hole in your wall. It pulls warm air out of the house and up the chimney, and a fair number of them are a net loss on a cold evening.

An insert slides into that same opening and closes it up. Same fireplace, same stone, far more heat staying where you want it. It is one of the more satisfying jobs we do because the difference is obvious the first night.

  • Wood, gas and pellet inserts to suit the fireplace
  • Sized and fitted to your existing opening
  • Stainless liner run up the existing chimney
  • Surrounds and faces to close the gap cleanly
  • Chimney inspected before anything is quoted

How to choose

What an insert actually fixes

An open masonry fireplace is pleasant to look at and, on most nights, a net loss of heat. Here is what changes.

It stops the draft

An open fireplace pulls warm household air up the chimney and draws cold air in around doors and windows to replace it. A sealed insert closes that opening. The difference is obvious the first evening.

It puts the heat in the room

Instead of most of the heat going up the flue, an insert radiates into the room and, on most models, circulates air around the firebox. The same fuel produces far more usable warmth.

It keeps the fireplace you like

The stone or brick stays. The mantel stays. What changes is the box inside the opening and a surround that closes the gap, so the room looks like itself and behaves better.

Questions we get

Worth knowing before you buy

Will an insert fit my fireplace?
Usually, but the opening decides which models are candidates. Height, width and depth all matter, and so does the condition of the chimney behind it. We measure before we quote, and we will tell you if the answer is no.
Wood, gas or pellet insert?
Wood if you have fuel and want the most heat for the least running cost. Gas if you want it on a switch with no work. Pellet if you want wood heat without splitting. All three fit the same opening.
Does the chimney need lining?
Nearly always, yes. An insert vents through a stainless liner run up the existing chimney, which is what makes it safe and what makes it draft properly. It is part of the job, not an upsell.
Will it look like it was always there?
That is the aim. A surround panel closes the gap between the insert and the masonry opening, and there are sizes and finishes to suit most fireplaces. Bring a photo and we can show you the options.
What if my chimney is in poor shape?
Then we find out before you spend money on an appliance. We inspect the chimney as part of quoting an insert, and if it needs work we will say so up front rather than after the install.

We are an authorized dealer for each of these, which means parts, warranty work and service stay here rather than going back to a factory.
